Late this morning

So, this must have been the 10th outfit I put on this morning before work… why does it take so long to figure out what goes with what?  Geez.  🙂

Top:  Liz Claiborne

Skirt:  Ann Taylor via Goodwill

Shoes:  Ann Taylor Perfect Pumps

Scarf:  NY street vendor 🙂

Necklace/Bracelets:  F21/Claire’s

Approx cost of total outfit:  $30 (not including the shoes)

REFLECTIONS:

I definitely need to skim down the clothes in my closet.  There is stuff that I just haven’t worn in years so why keep any of it?  Maybe this will help me save time in the mornings in figuring out what to wear!

Patent Pumps

Lord, help me… I just bought an almost new pair of Ann Taylor Patent Perfect Pumps for $50 shipped!

Pink gingham and blue

Saw this gingham shirt on another blogger, Sydney, at  petitelittlegirl.com and when I came across it at Old Navy, I just had to pick it up.  I normally would’ve walked right by it as I don’t wear a lot of pink or gingham, but I knew that it could look awesome as Sydney had dressed it up so why not… and it was marked down to only stinkin’ $6!!

Pink Gingham Top:  Old Navy

Navy Sweater:  Old Navy

Pants:  JC Penney

Shoes:  Target wedges — love!

Necklace/bracelets:  Claire’s

Approx cost of total outfit:  $30

REFLECTIONS:

This is a comfortable and work appropriate outfit… I would never have ever thought about wearing this pink shirt under a blue sweater but I’ve been paying more attention to the mixing and matching that we can do with fashion and all you bloggers out there are wonderful at providing the inspiration to try something new.

Take 2

Ok, so I had worn something else to work today, didn’t feel quite comfortable in how it looked, and went home at lunch to change.  Anyone else ever do that?  This is my 2nd outfit I settled on for the rest of the afternoon.

Top:  Loft outlet

Cardigan:  Old Navy

Tweed Pants:  Coldwater Creek

Skinny Belt:  Talbot’s via Goodwill

Bracelet: random yard sale

Necklace:  Claire’s

Shoes:  Payless (the best oxfords)

Color explosion

So, it’s a rainy cold day here and I wanted to wear my boots to work —

Top:  Liz Claiborne

Jacket:  Motto (QVC outlet)

Skirt:  Harold’s via Goodwill

Boots:  Target

Socks:  old

Scarf:  Target

Approx cost of total outfit:  $60

REFLECTIONS:

When I look at the pics, I think I look like a balloon but today, I don’t really care.  I’m comfy and warm and sometimes that is all that matters.  🙂

Fat

I feel fat today 😦

Top:  Loft Outlet

Cardigan:  NY&Co

Pants:  JC Penney

Skinny Belt:  Ann Taylor

Necklace:  Silpada**

Approx cost of total outfit:  $40

REFLECTIONS:

– I hate tucking shirts in.

– I have fat arms.

– I don’t know how to work a colored skinny belt correctly into outfits.

Ugh, I guess I just feel fat today.

**P.S.  I didn’t include the cost of the necklace in the approx total because it was purchased as a gift for my daughter… spent way too much $$ on it but at least she loves it (and I get to wear it too!).  Oh, and the shoes I am wearing were bought at Rack Room Shoes and aren’t even worth mentioning — hence no pic of my feet (went for comfort not style today).  Ho hum.

Black is safe… and AT Perfect Pumps review

So, here is a pretty easy outfit since it’s 1) black and 2) a dress…

Dress:  Ann Taylor (via Goodwill)

Skinny belt:  Goodwill

Cardigan:  Loft Outlet

Tights:  TJ Maxx

Shoes:  Ann Taylor Perfect Pumps**

Necklace:  Forever 21

Bracelet:  Made by me 🙂

Approx cost of total outfit:  $25 (not including the shoes)**

REFLECTIONS:

Ok, so let’s not include the cost of these shoes in any of my outfits, okay?  Ok.  🙂  After finding petite fashion blogs online, and seeing the rave reviews of the AT Perfect Pumps, I just had to try them out.  I have NEVER had a good basic pair of black leather pumps EVER.  Sure, I’ve bought some and worn some before but they were either too this or not enough that.  So, after doing research, I decided to take the plunge and invest in the AT pumps.  I wear a size 5 in dress shoes and let me tell you what a pain it is to find size 5 shoes in stores.  Even Ann Taylor doesn’t carry them in the stores but they do online.  So, long story short, I ordered them and when they arrived last week, I wasn’t wow’d right away.  Here is my review on the AT pumps:

—PROS

*Love the heel height and profile of the shoe!  At around 3.5″ high, the heel height is great for work.  The rounded toe is nice and not “intrusive” to the eye like a pointed toe is.

*Nice quality construction with great leather, etc.

—CONS

*Poo, still a bit big on me.  I have to use insoles at the ball of the shoe and at the heels.  I was hoping these would fit perfectly like it has for so many others.  Also, I don’t have super wide feet but they are definitely not very slender around the toe area and the shoes seem to be made for more slender feet.

*The price.  After using available discounts, I got these shoes for right around $100.  That is the most I’ve paid ever for a pair of pumps.  I know that others have gotten them for less but sometimes I’m just a bit impatient to wait and wait and wait for something I want.

After much debate within my head about whether or not to keep them, I finally decided to keep them.  After I compared them with the other 2 pairs of black pumps I had in my closet (which are ultra pointy-toed and super uncomfortable), it was a no-brainer that these AT Perfect Pumps are worth the investment.

Better in person

I like this outfit a lot but the pictures don’t do it justice.

Top: Loft Outlet

Cardigan: Loft

Pants: JC Penney

Necklace: Gift

Skinny Belt: Goodwill

Shoes: Target wedges (love)

Approx cost of total outfit:  $50

REFLECTIONS:

I tried to tuck in this cardi like many other petite bloggers do but I just don’t think the look is right for me.  I like to “hide” my waist when I can and love to wear cardigans open.  I think I’ll stick to that at least until I lose 10 lbs!  🙂

Stumpy

Top: Ann Taylor (via Goodwill) – Love this color!

Tank: Spanx from QVC

Skirt: Loft Outlet

Boots: Nine West

Belt: Ralph Lauren (via Goodwill)

Approx cost of total outfit: $40

REFLECTIONS:

Ok, in looking at these pictures, I now see how my skirt is much too long for my short legs.  I love this skirt as it fits so well and hits right at the knee… where I thought skirts should hit.  But, I think I should’ve bought the size 2P instead of the regular size 2 because a shorter hemline would look better.  Hmm….

A new blogging adventure!

Hello, blogland.  I am trying to document some of my outfits and hope that this will help me to make better decisions in regards to my fashion choices.  I know that seeing pictures of ourselves reveals a lot more than what we normally see for the few minutes we stand before a mirror getting ready each morning… right now I’m just taking the lazy route of getting to work and taking pictures of myself in the bathroom with my phone but maybe if I stick to this blogging thing, I’ll actually take “real” pictures someday.  Oh, and I like to be somewhat anonymous so you’ll never see my face on here, but believe me, you aren’t missing out on too much.  Haha.
